Long Beach Airport (LGB) recently won two prestigious awards for itsconcessions program. LGB was named Best Airport for Dining in a 10Best.com readers' choice poll sponsored by USA Today, and won an award for Best Concessions Design in the Small Hub category from Airport Revenue News magazine.
"With an assortment of beloved local eateries serving a fine selection of regional cuisine, Long Beach Airport stands out among its counterparts for delivering quality fare in such a unique and welcoming setting," said Mayor Robert Garcia. "Our community should be proud that ourairport is continuing to receive such accolades and establishing itself asone of the finest airports in the country, if not the world."
USA Today and 10Best.com mentioned that LGB hearkens back to the golden age of flying, and that its food options are a great representation of local flavors.
"With an exceptionally designed terminal facility and a team which collectively delivers remarkable customer service, Long Beach Airportis honored to receive this recognition from USA Today, 10Best.com andAirport Revenue News," said Airport Director Bryant L. Francis, C.M."Further, in the USA Today 10Best.com Readers' Choice poll, LGB was by far the smallest of the 15 airports nominated for Best Airport Dining in terms of passenger activity, so this is indeed well deserved recognition for LGB."
Among the other honorees on the list were two Long Beach Airport destinations: San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Other large hubs on the list included Denver International Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport, and Miami International Airport.
The Airport Revenue News awards were announced at its recent Revenue Conference and Exhibition in Dallas, Texas. The selection process began in September 2015 and involved the airport industry in soliciting nominations, before they narrowed down the field of finalists. A committee of industry professionals voted on those finalists to select winners for each category.
Besides winning in the Airport with the Best Concessions Design category, LGB was also nominated for Airport with the Best Customer Service and Airport with the Best Overall Concessions Program categories.
LGB concessionaire Paradies Lagardère also received multiple awards in both contests. In the USA Today 10Best.com poll, they came in first place for Best Airport Bar Wait Staff (Bar Symon at Pittsburgh International Airport), and they were honored by Airport Revenue News for Best New Retail Concept (7-Eleven); Best Specialty Retail Brand Operator; Best Chef-Driven, Local or Regional Restaurant (Bar Symon); and for the twenty-first consecutive year, they received the Best Overall Retailer award.
